Lamento d'Arianna , the only remnant of Monteverdi's opera about the king's daughter Ariadne, forms the starting point of Drift , together with other musical and literary material from the Baroque period .

Ariadne is a king's daughter who betrays family and country to rescue her beloved from the labyrinth. Theseus promises her mountains of gold to leave her behind on the island of Naxos after a wonderful night of love. Even the gods are touched by her tears and Venus sends the god Bacchus to ease her pain. 
Like many others, Claudio Monteverdi was inspired by Ariadne's story, although only the famous  Lamento d'Arianna remains of his opera  . This lament is the starting point for  Drift , together with other musical and literary material from the Baroque.
As with the internationally renowned youth productions  De Storm  and Z one Orfeo , Drift  . puts from a core group of young singers and instrumentalists, who are increasingly finding their way to the major opera and music theater houses. This biotope of young creative talent is once again present for a quirky piece of music theatre.

Lamento d'Arianna, het enige overblijfsel van Monteverdi's opera over koningsdochter Ariadne, vormt samen met ander muzikaal en literair materiaal uit de barok het vertrekpunt van Drift.

Ariadne is een koningsdochter, die familie en land verraadt om haar geliefde uit het labyrinth te redden. Theseus belooft haar gouden bergen om haar vervolgens na een heerlijke liefdesnacht achter te laten op het eiland Naxos. Haar tranen laten zelfs de goden niet onberoerd en Venus stuurt de god Bacchus, om haar pijn te verzachten. 
Net als vele anderen liet Claudio Monteverdi zich inspireren door het verhaal van Ariadne, al bleef van zijn opera enkel het beroemde Lamento d'Arianna over. Dit lamento vormt het vertrekpunt van Drift, samen met ander muzikaal en literair materiaal uit de barok.
Net als bij de internationaal opgemerkte jongerenproducties De Storm en Zone Orfeo, put Drift uit een kerngroep van jonge zangers en instrumentalisten, die steeds vaker hun weg naar de grote opera-en muziektheaterhuizen weten te vinden. Dit biotoop van jong creatief talent staat opnieuw present voor een eigenzinnige brok muziektheater.
