Московский театр Новая Опера имени Е.В. Колобова представил российскую премьеру оперы «Мертвый город» Эриха Вольфганга Корнгольда в апреле 2022 года.

Это сочинение никогда не ставилось на российских сценах. Символично, что путь новой для нашей страны оперы начался именно с театра Новая Опера.

Впервые в Новой Опере спектакль поставил Василий Бархатов, один из самых успешных и востребованных во всем мире режиссеров.

Эта история о вдовце Пауле, который оплакивает умершую жену Мари, превращает дом в «храм», посвященный ей. Он встречает танцовщицу Мариэтту, удивительно похожую на жену. Его охватывает новое чувство, однако он боится предать память Мари, нарушить верность, и всё же поддается страсти. Мариэтта хочет быть для него главной женщиной, даже позволяет себе прикоснуться к  реликвии – золотистым волосам Мари, более того, танцует с ними. Пауль в бешенстве душит ее этими волосами. Но всё это оказывается лишь сном: в конце оперы Мариэтта вновь приходит в дом Пауля.

Moscow theater Novaya Opera named after E.V. Kolobova presented the Russian premiere of the opera The Dead City by Erich Wolfgang Korngold in April 2022.

This work has never been staged on Russian stages. It is symbolic that the path of a new opera for our country began precisely with the Novaya Opera Theater.

For the first time at the Novaya Opera, the performance was staged by  Vasily Barkhatov , one of the most successful and sought-after directors all over the world.

This story about the widower Paula, who mourns the death of his wife Marie, turns the house into a "temple" dedicated to her. He meets the dancer Marietta, who is remarkably similar to his wife. He is seized by a new feeling, but he is afraid to betray Marie's memory, to break his fidelity, and yet he succumbs to passion. Marietta wants to be the main woman for him, even allows herself to touch the relic - Marie's golden hair, moreover, she dances with them. Paul, in a rage, strangles her with these hairs. But all this turns out to be just a dream: at the end of the opera, Marietta again comes to Paul's house.
