The mission is clear - to marry a widow! But so that her millions remain in the principality. There would be plenty of suitors, but Count Danilo, in charge of the task, already has a love history with his widow Hana Glawari. So affection is reciprocal, but the reluctance to admit that old love has not rusted either. When you add other ingredients in the form of a party at the embassy in Paris, dancers from the famous cabaret U Maxima and funny dialogues, you have everything you need for a great operetta.

The librettist Leo Stein found the idea for the Merry Widow in the form of a French comedy, which he accidentally discovered while rummaging through a library during a visit. The originally intended composer was not interested and the choice fell on the young Franz Lehár. If it was a stroke of fate, then he turned out to be very happy. Lehár, after his Hungarian mother and his father from Moravia, probably had a feeling for melodies, swing and wit thanks to his mixed family heritage. Each issue of Happy Widow is a small musical gift and melodies like U Maxima I know, a song about Vilije, Women, Women and others quickly became famous. Thanks to The Merry Widow , Lehár also became famous, and today his operetta is part of the New York MET repertoire. Cheerful widowshe returns to the Brno stage after almost thirty years and is taken care of by an experienced team. Director Magdalena Švecová, together with choreographer Martin Pack and artists Zuzana Přidalová and David Janošek, are the authors of great and narrative productions by Ferda Mravence and La bohème . So you can look forward to the charm of Paris at the turn of the century with all the splendor.

Mise je jasná – provdat vdovu! Ale tak, aby její miliony zůstaly v knížectví. Nápadníků by bylo dost, jenže hrabě Danilo pověřený úkolem, má s vdovou Hanou Glawari už svou milostnou historii. Náklonnost je tedy oboustranná, ale nechuť přiznat si, že stará láska nezrezivěla taky. Když přidáte další ingredience v podobě párty na velvyslanectví v Paříži, tanečnic ze slavného kabaretu U Maxima a vtipné dialogy, máte vše co je třeba na skvělou operetu.

Námět na Veselou vdovu našel libretista Leo Stein v podobě francouzské komedie, kterou náhodou objevil, když se na návštěvě prohrabával v knihovně. Původně zamýšlený skladatel neměl zájem a volba tak padla na mladého Franze Lehára. Pokud to byl zásah osudu, pak se ukázal jako velmi šťastný. Lehár, po matce Maďar a po otci z Moravy, měl zřejmě díky smíšenému rodinnému dědictví cit pro melodie, švih a vtip. Každé číslo Veselé vdovy je malým hudebním dárkem a melodie jako U Maxima jsem znám, píseň o Vilije, Ženy, ženy a další se staly rychle slavnými. Slavným se díky Veselé vdově stal i Lehár a dnes jeho opereta patří na i repertoár newyorské MET. Veselá vdova se na brněnské jeviště vrací po téměř třiceti letech a ujme se jí zkušený tým. Režisérka Magdalena Švecová spolu s choreografem Martinem Packem a výtvarníky Zuzanou Přidalovou a Davidem Janoškem jsou autory skvělých a výpravných inscenací Ferdy Mravence a La bohème. Můžete se tedy těšit na kouzlo Paříže na přelomu století se vší parádou.

Der Auftrag ist klar – eine Witwe wieder verheiraten! Aber so, dass ihre Millionen im Fürstentum bleiben. Anwärter gäbe es genug, allerdings verbindet auch den Grafen Danilo, der mit dem Auftrag betraut ist, mit der Witwe Hanna Glawari bereits eine alte Liebesgeschichte. Die Zuneigung geht also von beiden Seiten aus, ebenso aber auch der Unwille einzugestehen, dass die alte Liebe noch immer da ist. Wenn dann noch weitere Ingredienzien wie eine Party in der Pariser Botschaft, Tänzerinnen aus dem berühmten Cabaret Maxim und witzige Dialoge hinzukommen, dann ist das Ergebnis eine hinreißende Operette.

Das Sujet zur Lustigen Witwe fand Librettist Leo Stein in einer französischen Komödie, die er zufällig entdeckte, als er bei einem Besuch die Bibliothek seiner Gastgeber durchstöberte. Der ursprünglich erwogene Komponist zeigte sein Interesse, und so fiel die Wahl denn auf den jungen Franz Lehár. Sollte hier das Schicksal in Spiel gewesen sein, so hat es sich als ein sehr glückliches erwiesen. Lehár, mütterlicherseits Ungar und väterlicherseits mit Wurzeln in Mähren, hatte offenbar dank dieser familiären Mischung ein besonderes Gespür für Melodien, Schwung und Witz. Jede Nummer der Lustigen Witwe ist ein kleines musikalisches Präsent, und Melodien wie Da geh ich zu Maxim, das Vilja-Lied oder der Weibermarsch wurden rasch bekannt. Berühmt wurde dank der Lustigen Witwe auch Lehár selbst, dessen Operette heute etwa auch zum Repertoire der New Yorker MET zählt. Auf die Brünner Bühne kehrt Die lustige Witwe nach fast dreißig Jahren zurück, und es hat sich ihrer ein erfahrenes Team angenommen. Regisseurin Magdalena Švecová, Choreograf Martin Pacek sowie die Künstler Zuzana Přidalová und David Janošek begeisterten bereits als Autoren der Inszenierungen Ferdy, die Ameise und La bohème. Man darf sich also auf den beschwingten Charme des Paris der Jahrhundertwende freuen – mit allem, was dazugehört.
