Życiorys Michela Corrette’a (1707-1795) to doskonały przykład wszechstronności barokowych mistrzów. Dał się poznać jako znakomity kompozytor, organista, wydawca oraz pedagog, a jego liczne podręczniki – szkoły gry na różne instrumenty – dają współczesnym badaczom i muzykom wgląd w ówczesną praktykę wykonawczą. Jako pierwszy francuski twórca komponował koncerty przeznaczone na instrumenty dęte, a także organy, znajdując inspirację w muzyce Haendla. W katalogu jego dzieł można znaleźć niemal wszystkie gatunki muzyki wokalnej i instrumentalnej uprawiane w XVIII wieku.  

Do najsłynniejszych dzieł kompozytora należy cykl dwudziestu pięciu koncertów znanych jako Concertos comiques. Pierwszych sześć Corrette wydał w 1733 roku (Six concertos conques pour 3 flutes, hautbois, ou violons avec la basse, oeuvre 8), zaś kolejne ukazywały się w miarę ich powstawania w następnych dekadach. Wykonywane w antraktach plenerowych przedstawień komedii muzycznych zachwycały i bawiły publiczność. Jako tematy koncertów Corrette wykorzystywał popularne melodie, jak choćby temat z Les Indes galantes Jeana-Philippe’a Rameau w wieńczącym cały cykl utworze Les Sauvages et la Furstemberg.

The biography of Michel Corrette (1707-1795) is a perfect example of the versatility of Baroque masters. He became known as an excellent composer, organist, publisher and teacher, and his numerous textbooks - schools of playing for various instruments - give contemporary researchers and musicians insight into the performance practice of that time. He was the first French composer to compose concertos for wind instruments and organs, finding inspiration in Handel's music. The catalog of his works includes almost all genres of vocal and instrumental music practiced in the 18th century.  

The composer's most famous works include a series of twenty-five concertos known as Concertos comiques . He published the first six Correttes in 1733 ( Six concertos conques pour 3 flutes, hautbois, ou violons avec la basse, oeuvre 8) , and the next ones appeared as they were created in the following decades. Musical comedies performed during the interludes of outdoor performances delighted and entertained the audience. Corrette used popular melodies as themes for his concerts, such as the theme from Les Indes galantes  by Jean-Philippe Rameau in the work Les Sauvages et la Furstemberg, which concludes the entire cycle .
