Ob Liebe, Sehnsucht oder Gefühl, beim letzten Abendessen mehr vertilgt zu haben, als gut war – große und kleine universelle Empfindungen haben Platz in Carl Orffs so packend komponierter „Carmina Burana“. In unserer Version des Welthits lassen wir ihre 1000 Jahre alten Lieder mit lateinischen und mittelhochdeutschen Texten auf uralte Gesänge und Gedichte anderer Kulturen treffen. Denn was in der „Carmina“ besungen wird, ist nicht nur zeitlos, sondern auch einfach menschlich und verbindet uns damals wie heute um den Erdball.

Deshalb freuen wir uns ganz besonders, zu diesem Projekt Kinderchöre der Al-Farabi Akademie am Konzerthaus Berlin zu begrüßen, deren Motto „… weil Musik verbindet“ den Geist unserer „Carmina“ absolut widerspiegelt. In ihnen singen Kindern und Jugendliche, die allein oder mit ihren Familien nach Deutschland geflüchtet sind, mit hier ansässigen Gleichaltrigen, erleben eine Gemeinschaft der Verschiedenen – und die universelle Kraft der Musik.

Mit diesen Kindenchören, renommierten Solist*innen, Schlagzeugern des Konzerthausorchesters und unseren Artists in Residence Lucas und Arthur Jusssen an den Klavieren erklingt das Orff-Werk in seiner Bearbeitung auf neue Weise mitreißend und doch vertraut bis zum großen Schlusschor „O Fortuna“.

Whether love, longing or the feeling of having eaten more than was good at the last dinner - large and small universal sensations have a place in Carl Orff's so grippingly composed "Carmina Burana". In our version of the world hit, we combine their 1,000-year-old songs with Latin and Middle High German lyrics with ancient songs and poems from other cultures. Because what is sung about in "Carmina" is not only timeless, but also simply human and connects us then as now around the world.

That's why we are particularly pleased to welcome children's choirs from the Al-Farabi Academy at the Konzerthaus Berlin to this project, whose motto "... because music connects" absolutely reflects the spirit of our "Carmina". In them, children and young people who have fled to Germany alone or with their families sing with their peers living here, experiencing a community of different people - and the universal power of music.

With these children's choirs, renowned soloists, percussionists from the Konzerthausorchester and our Artists in Residence Lucas and Arthur Jusssen on the pianos, the arrangement of the Orff work sounds exciting in a new way and yet familiar up to the big final chorus "O Fortuna".
