Budapest Festival Orchestra 2: Die Walküre Wagner,Richard

Iván Fischer believes that once you get involved with Richard Wagner, you can't get away from him. He himself was infected with the Wagner virus as a child in Hungary, because his parents were sworn Wagnerians. For those who haven't gotten that far yet, he offers the ideal gateway drug in this concert: the first act from  Die Walküre. The plot is exciting like a crime thriller. You root for the two main characters Sieglinde and Siegmund, who are only allowed to spend one night together before Siegmund has to die the next day in a duel with Sieglinde's jealous husband Hunding. Wagner's music leaves us breathless in the introductory chase, it beguiles when it comes to the highest of emotions, and it culminates at the end in the intoxicating ecstasy of the act of love. With Camilla Nylund, Klaus Florian Vogt and Günther Groissböck, three top stars from the Wagner scene provide vocal delights. But Iván Fischer loves the lyrical moments in Wagner's music most of all. And he can savor it to the full at the beginning of the evening with the tender  Siegfried Idyll , created in 1870 in Tribschen near Lucerne.

Wer sich einmal auf Richard Wagner einlässt, kommt nicht mehr von ihm los, glaubt Iván Fischer. Selbst ist er schon als Kind in Ungarn mit dem Wagner-Virus infiziert worden, denn seine Eltern waren eingeschworene Wagnerianer. Für alle, die noch nicht so weit sind, bietet er in diesem Konzert die ideale Einstiegsdroge: den ersten Akt aus der Walküre. Die Handlung ist spannend wie ein Krimi. Man fiebert mit den beiden Hauptfiguren Sieglinde und Siegmund mit, denen nur eine einzige gemeinsame Nacht vergönnt ist, ehe Siegmund am nächsten Tag im Duell mit Sieglindes eifersüchtigem Ehemann Hunding sterben muss. Wagners Musik lässt uns gleich in der einleitenden Verfolgungsjagd atemlos werden, sie betört, wenn es um das höchste der Gefühle geht, und sie kulminiert am Ende in der rauschhaften Ekstase des Liebesakts. Mit Camilla Nylund, Klaus Florian Vogt und Günther Groissböck sorgen drei Topstars aus der Wagner-Szene für vokalen Hochgenuss. Am meisten aber liebt Iván Fischer die lyrischen Momente in Wagners Musik. Und die kann er am Anfang des Abends mit dem zarten Siegfried-Idyll, entstanden 1870 in Tribschen bei Luzern, voll auskosten.
