Strauss uznawał „Barona cygańskiego” za swe największe kompozytorskie osiągnięcie. Zauroczony folklorem cygańsko-węgierskim stworzył operetkę oddającą piękno kultury obu tych nacji. Muzyka opisuje koloryt i swobodę puszty, żywiołowość cygańskiego obozowiska i elegancję wiedeńskich pałaców, dzieło aż roi się od wpadających w ucho melodii. „Baron cygański” powrócił w iście królewskim przepychu do repertuaru bydgoskiej Opery: operetkę wystawia się po to, aby sprawić radość widzom i…wykonawcom.

Wykreowany na scenie świat ma zachwycać popisowymi ariami, wystawnością strojów, dekoracji, wdziękiem tancerek, dynamiką tancerzy, popisami aktorskimi całego zespołu a w uszach (i sercach) mają zostać na zawsze cudowny walc skarbów, duet ”ślubny” Saffi i Barinkaya, marsz rekrutów i ognisty czardasz. Z pieczołowitością zostały odtworzone XIX wieczne kostiumy wieśniaków w święcie winobrania z I aktu, migoczący światełkami namiot czaruje tajemniczością i erotyzmem Wschodu, przepyszny żyrandol i gigantyczne ażurowe schody –(największe w historii realizacji na scenie Opery Nova), które stanowią tło dla olśniewających sukien i mundurów. Błękity, szmaragdy, indygo, fiolety, cekiny, zapinki, przypinki. Jedwabne falbany spódnic tworzą barwną ruchomą płaszczyznę w porywającym czardaszu, powiewają frędzle chust, błyskają i dźwięczą szable: blisko 3 godziny radości!

Strauss considered "The Gypsy Baron" to be his greatest compositional achievement. Enchanted by the Gypsy-Hungarian folklore, he created an operetta that reflects the beauty of the culture of both nations. The music describes the color and freedom of the puszta, the spontaneity of the Gypsy camp and the elegance of Viennese palaces, the work is full of catchy melodies. The "Gypsy Baron" has returned in truly royal splendor to the repertoire of the Bydgoszcz Opera: the operetta is staged to bring joy to the audience and… performers.

The world created on the stage is to delight with spectacular arias, sumptuous costumes, decorations, the charm of the dancers, the dynamics of the dancers, the acting performances of the entire team, and in the ears (and hearts) a wonderful waltz of treasures, the "wedding" duo of Saffi and Barinkaya, a march of recruits and a fiery czardas. The nineteenth-century costumes of the villagers in Act I were recreated with care, the tent flickering with lights enchants with the mystery and eroticism of the East, a delicious chandelier and a gigantic openwork staircase (the largest ever production on the Opera Nova stage), which constitute the background for dazzling dresses and uniforms . Blues, emeralds, indigo, purples, sequins, clasps, pins. The silk ruffles of the skirts create a colorful, moving plane in the ravishing shardash, the fringes of the scarves flutter, the sabers flicker and ring:
