The celebrated New York composer John Zorn returns to Lusatia a year after his four extremely successful portrait concerts. In his luggage he has a work written especially for the Lausitz Festival: »Star Catcher« (Star Catcher) - inspired by the painting of the same name by the surrealist artist Remedios Varo - for soprano, piano and improvised rhythm group, will be premiered by the exceptional soprano Barbara Hannigan. Also on the program are Zorn's song cycles "Jumalattaret" and "Split the Lark" - a breathtakingly rebellious evening of songs!

Der gefeierte New Yorker Komponist John Zorn kehrt ein Jahr nach seinen vier überaus erfolgreichen Porträt-Konzerten in die Lausitz zurück. Im Gepäck hat er ein eigens für das Lausitz Festival geschriebenes Werk: »Star Catcher« (Sternenfängerin) – inspiriert vom gleichnamigen Gemälde der surrealistischen Künstlerin Remedios Varo – für Sopran, Klavier und improvisierende Rhythmus-Gruppe, wird von der Ausnahmesopranistin Barbara Hannigan uraufgeführt. Außerdem stehen auf dem Programm Zorns Liederzyklen »Jumalattaret« und »Split the Lark« – ein atemberaubend-aufrührerischer Liederabend!
