Es ist wieder so weit: Paukenwirbel schallen durch den Berliner Dom, Trompeten schmettern ihre Fanfaren und der große Oratorienchor der Berliner Domkantorei verkündet das Motto des Weihnachtsklassikers schlechthin: „Jauchzet, frohlocket, auf preiset die Tage!“ Alle Jahre wieder stimmen sich Zuhörerinnen und Zuhörer aus aller Welt im Berliner Dom mit Johann Sebastian Bachs ‚Weihnachtsoratorium‘ auf die schönste Zeit des Jahres ein. Das ‚Oratorium‘ hält ein ganzes Universum an fesselnder Musik bereit: Beschwingte Chorstücke folgen auf lyrische Arien, zarte Flötenklänge wechseln mit freudigen Trompeten, kontemplative Choräle und betörende Streichermusik öffnen den Himmel auf Erden: Bachs ‚Weihnachtsoratorium‘ ist Musik, die nicht altert – und beinahe nicht mehr von dieser Welt ist. Unter der großen Kuppel des Berliner Doms singt die Berliner Domkantorei, begleitet vom Barockorchester Aris et Aulis, unter der Leitung von Domkantor Adrian Büttemeier.

It's that time of year again: timpani rolls echo through the Berlin Cathedral, trumpets belt out their fanfares and the great oratorio choir of the Berlin Cathedral Choir announces the motto of the Christmas classic par excellence: "Rejoice, rejoice, praise the days!" Every year, listeners from all over the world get in the mood for the most beautiful time of the year with Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Christmas Oratorio' in Berlin Cathedral. The 'Oratorio' holds a whole universe of captivating music: lively choral pieces follow lyrical arias, delicate flute sounds alternate with joyful trumpets, contemplative chorales and beguiling string music open heaven on earth: Bach's 'Christmas Oratorio' is music that does not age – and is almost out of this world. Under the large dome of the Berlin Cathedral, the Berlin Cathedral Choir sings, accompanied by the baroque orchestra Aris et Aulis, under the direction of cathedral cantor Adrian Büttemeier.
