Главный герой этого музыкального вечера – маримба-идиофон, инструмент с деревянными клавишами, звонким и в то же время мягким, нежным голосом. Название программе дали пьесы американских минималистов: пунктирная, написанная словно акустическое техно Music for Pieces of Wood Стива Райха и медитативно-текучая Opening (Первая часть Glassworks) Филипа Гласса.

Наряду с ними в концерте прозвучат балканская Ilijas Небойши Живковича, завораживающая Rhythm song Пола Смэдбэка, трогательная Mariel Освальдо Голихова для маримбы и виолончели, а также две партитуры, которые возвращаются к ритуальной силе ударных в огранке отточенной академической техники – Trio per Uno Живковича и Rebonds B Яниса Ксенакиса.

Music for marimba – an idiophone with wooden keys and soft bright voce – is the basis for the concert. Pieces of American minimalist composers gave title to the programme: Steve Reich’s “Music for Pieces of Wood” is a kind of dotted “acoustic techno”, while Philip Glass’s “Opening” is a flowing meditation.

Other tunes in the setlist are Balkan-esque “Ilijas” by Nebojša Živković, mesmerizing “Rhythm Song” by Paul Smadbeck, Смэдбэка, трогательная Mariel by Osvaldo Golijov (for marimba and cello), as well as two sheet music that bring us back to the drums’ ritual power put in the honed shape of academic technics: Živković’s “Trio per Uno” and Iannis Xenakis’s “Rebonds B”.
