Dishonoring Lucretia - pre-premiere video spot - Moravian-Silesian National Theatre

One of the most famous chamber operas was tailor-made for Britten's opera company and was censored as "highly obscene" before it was even performed. The plot of the opera is based on a historical fact: Lucretia, the wife of the Roman noble Tarquinius Collatinus, committed suicide after being raped by the son of the last Roman king of Etruscan origin. The story contains a tremendous human and moral message, it is a work that can also be fulfilled by its very suggestive conclusion carried in the Christian spirit. When all that is innocent and sweet is fast asleep, murder and lust are at work.
 
You can look forward to a top international cast of four leading roles:  Eva Drízgová-Jirušová ,  Jorge Garza  (New York),  Thomas Weinhappel  (Vienna) and  Janja Vuletic  (Berlin), who in 2008 won the prestigious TV Mezzo competition for her portrayal of Lucrecia. Britten's unique instrumentation for chamber orchestra will be presented by the concertmasters and group leaders of the NDM opera orchestra.

Jedna z nejslavnějších komorních oper byla šita na míru Brittenově operní společnosti a ještě předtím, než byla uvedena, byla cenzurována a označena za „silně obscénní“. Děj opery se opírá o historickou skutečnost: Lukrécie, žena římského šlechtice Tarquinia Collatina, spáchala sebevraždu poté, co byla znásilněna synem posledního římského krále etruského původu. Příběh v sobě nese ohromné lidské a morální sdělení, je dílem, které dokáže naplnit i svým velmi sugestivním závěrem neseným v křesťanském duchu. Když tvrdě spí vše nevinné a milé, vražda a chtíč se mají k dílu čile.
 
Těšit se můžete na špičkové mezinárodní obsazení čtyř hlavních rolí: Eva Dřízgová-Jirušová, Jorge Garza (New York), Thomas Weinhappel (Vídeň) a Janja Vuletic (Berlín), která v roce 2008 vyhrála prestižní soutěž TV Mezzo za ztvárnění role Lukrécie. V Brittenově osobité instrumentaci pro komorní orchestr se budou prezentovat koncertní mistři a vedoucí skupin orchestru opery NDM.
